2009
During this project participants were asked to submit a wish about something they would like to learn. I made an effort to make their wish come true by finding a person that knew how.
The idea is basic. No wish is impossible if only the right helpful person is found, in order to show you how. ‘If I can do it, so can you!’ offers a solution that is right in front of us if only we dare to reach out.
‘If I can do it, so can you!’ was realised at West Chicago City Museum, US and Koh-i-Noor, Copenhagen, DK
Read the US-invitation below:
What would YOU like to learn?
How about learning how to mend a bicycle tire, remove a stain, write a letter to the editor, start skating, knitting or tidy up those piles of papers at your desk? Maybe something more exceptional, like learning how to meet a ghost, flirt successfully or be-come just a little bit famous?
Use the suggestions above as inspiration only and dare to dream for any new talent or trade. You can wish for whatever it is you feel like learning. No wish is to small, crazy or ambitious.
During September 2009 I will be working out of the West Chicago City Museum and doing my very best to match local people willing to share their talents with others. If I am able to locate a person matching your wish, a teaching session will be set up at the West Chicago City Museum. The duration of each session is about one hour depending on the skill being taught.
Please write a short statement on what you would like to learn and why and include your name, age, phone number and email address. You can submit your wish to the mail adress below or hand in a note at The West Chicago City Museum. After business hours wishes can also be dropped off through the mail slot. I will contact you as soon as possible. All participation is free.
