Projekt genbo / Neighbour opposite

2003

In this project a small booklet was distributed to all households in Husumgade. Husumgade is a narrow street of Copenhagen and my home at that time.

The booklet contained a list of different everyday objects one might put in ones windowsill. Each of these objects were linked to a personal characteristic such as charming, angry, single, stubborn, shy etc. In this manner the booklet functioned as a tool for getting to know ones neighbours just a little bit better by “reading” their windowsills. And also gave the opportunity to stage ones image to the other side of the street.

‘Projekt genbo’ was part of the larger community project ‘NB! – Lad os mødes!’ curated by Helene Øllgaard Jacobsen and Berit Nørgaard.
